The Garretson Resolution Group, Inc. (GRG) is committed to keeping our clients informed of the latest developments concerning the Medicare Secondary Payer Recovery Contractor (MSPRC) and how those developments may affect their cases. We are issuing this Client Advisory to inform you that the MSPRC issued the following announcement concerning the issuance of Rights and Responsibilities (RAR) and Demand letters on its website:


Alert: Issuance of the Rights and Responsibilities (RAR) and Demand letters has been temporarily suspended


Issuance of the Rights and Responsibilities (“RAR”) and Demand letters has been temporarily suspended while these letters are under review. The MSPRC is still working cases, and the RAR and Demand letters will be mailed out once appropriate revisions have been made.

This announcement affects all cases submitted to the MSPRC nationwide. We can assure you that GRG is working diligently to keep cases moving to the best of our ability under the circumstances.
GRG remains in close contact with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and is actively monitoring the situation to understand how and when this issue will be resolved. We will communicate any further updates to our clients as soon as they become available.

Status: None are being issued at this time


Based on our experience, we expect the announcement may affect the following stages as follows:


Case Stage: RAR not issued prior to suspension
Status: Conditional Payment (CP) process stopped

Case Stage: RAR issued prior to suspension
Status: CP will continue through process and will be issued
